The Porcelain Veneers Process

Visit 1. Custom consultation & designing your smile

The first step in the porcelain veneers process involves a Smile Design consult with Dr. Fulbright or Dr. Faist, pre-treatment photo and video production, and the creation of digital records. This stage will ultimately form the foundation of your treatment plan. We send all of your information to our Master Ceramist, Paulo Battistella, who will review your photos and discuss aspects of the treatment, such as shade-matching and contour, with our doctors.

Visit 2. Prep impressions & prototype veneers

Your second visit is your “preparation” appointment. Your doctor will perform a minimal reshaping of the tooth being treated in order to provide the best fit for the custom veneer. Then, a final digital impression will be taken, and a prototype veneer will be placed on the tooth. This unique stage of the process makes it possible for you to “test” your new smile, allowing us to identify and implement any corrections that may be necessary to provide you with the smile of your dreams in just a few short weeks.

Visit 3. Final Placement

On your third visit, the prototype will be removed and we will place the final version of the custom veneer on the affected tooth. The veneer will be sealed to the tooth with a durable, resin-bonded cement.

Visit 4. Follow-up appointment & photo shoot

During this appointment, we will examine your teeth to ensure that the treatment is meeting your expectations. We will also conduct a studio photo session to capture your winning new smile!

Once in place, porcelain veneers look and feel completely natural, and they can last for decades with minimal maintenance. Many patients also elect to undergo professional teeth whitening before their porcelain veneers have been placed. Our dentist will talk with you about all of your options during the initial consultation.

Dr. Michael Fulbright

Dr. Fulbright is proud to have built a dental practice based on excellence and integrity, one in which his patients feel good about the dental care they receive. He’s established himself as one of the most skilled and caring cosmetic dentists in the South Bay. By maintaining state-of-the-art equipment, techniques, and systems in his office, he has further sustained his edge in the dental field. Dr. Fulbright earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology (BS) from the University of California, Irvine, an additional BS in Dental Hygiene from the University of Southern California (USC), and a Doctorate in Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2000 from the School of Dentistry at USC. Dr. Fulbright obtained post-graduate training from UCLA in the Advanced Aesthetic Continuum and the renowned Pacific Implant Institute, which has enabled him to perform all aspects of full-mouth reconstruction. Dr. Fulbright is also very involved in giving back to his community. He has helped restore the lives of domestically abused men and women through the Give Back a Smile Foundation. He has also volunteered his services through Remote Area Medical (RAM), the Beacon House, and various community causes.

Dr. Kevin Faist enjoys all aspects of dentistry, appreciating the diversity and challenges the profession provides. He also loves interacting with patients of all ages and being able to meet new people every day. He takes pride in his work and ensures each patient receives excellent, pain-free dentistry. Dr. Faist is dedicated to staying current with the newest products and techniques by continuing his education and taking courses in all aspects of dentistry, including cosmetic dentistry and veneers, dental implants, and fixed and removable prosthodontics. He is Invisalign®-certified and has received an associate fellowship in laser dentistry.

Kevin Faist

Growing up in New York City, Dr. Aurora Fields decided to pursue dentistry while taking a medical diagnosis class in high school.She knew then that she wanted a career in medicine, but also that she wanted to engage more personally and artistically to help keep people happy, healthy, and thriving. She left the big city for Smith College here in Northampton to work on her undergraduate studies and fell in love with the Pioneer Valley area.After graduating with a degree in Chemistry, Dr. Aurora returned to New York State and went to the University of Buffalo, where she completed her doctorate of dental surgery degree, and met her wife, Erin. After moving in and out of the area for several years, Dr. Aurora and her wife settled back here in Northampton, and she started searching for the perfect space to host our practice. When Refresh Valley Dental finally opened in December 2021, we partnered with the Northampton Survival Center. Giving back to the community has been of paramount importance since day one, and Dr. Aurora says often that she considers herself extremely lucky to have found such a wonderful place to call home and such a great opportunity to give back to the community. During her free time, Dr. Aurora enjoys baking, painting, biking, birdwatching, and relaxing on the couch with her wife and cats over a mellow Netflix show. She also loves video games and good music — you might even hear her sing while she’s working!

After Dr. Blalock suffered a dental injury when a cow’s hoof contacted his teeth, his dentist repaired his smile and sparked a fascination for the art of dentistry. Because of that experience, Dr. Blalock realized his calling was to become a dentist. He loves that dental work gives him the ability to work creatively with his hands while interacting with patients and making a positive impact on their lives.

Dr. Blalock graduated Summa Cum Laude from Tennessee Tech University with an undergraduate degree in health science biology. He went on to graduate with honors from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry
